Join Us for Sunday Worship at 10:30 a.m.
Jason continues our new sermon series on miracles with Matthew 8:5-13, in which a centurion asks Jesus to heal his ailing servant. Jesus agrees to go do so, only for the centurion to tell Jesus that he doesn’t need to go in person, simply ordering the servant to be healed will be enough. “And to the centurion Jesus said, ‘Go; let it be done for you according to your faith.’ And the servant was healed in that hour.”
There will be a baptism this Sunday! Join us in welcoming a new young member of our church family.
Music highlights this week include “Ancient Words” from the Adult Choir, “Forever,” “All Things New,” “O Come, All Ye Unfaithful,” and “Our God” from the Praise Team, and “This Is a Day of New Beginnings” from the hymnal.
Before the service, at 9:30 a.m. in Hughes Hall, Jason will be hosting a “Meet the Church” class. This class, hosted by Rev. Jason Micheli, is for visitors, new members, and anyone else curious about the culture and beliefs here at Annandale UMC. Drop on in! This will take the place of our usual Sunday Free-for-All discussion with Jason.
Thank you to the Foundation Board for hosting fellowship hour this week, and to the Morning Prayer group and Stephen Ministers for hosting last week. Next week’s hosts will be the Staff-Parish Relations Committee. If you are willing to help, email Elaine Woods, ewoods@annandale-umc.org .
Meet our new members!
Stephanie Boone, Christine Bogusz, Glenn McCLoughlin and Kelly Sites officially became members of Annandale UMC during the worship service on June 8.
Christine grew up in Andover, Massachusetts, and has lived in Northern Virginia since 1989. She has one brother and three sisters, one of whom is her identical twin. She works at the Congressional Budget Office as an editor, a job she’s held since 2000. Her outside interests are dancing, reading, and exercising. She loves animals and has had dogs and cats throughout her life. She’s been coming to AUMC for six months now and find everyone (you, especially) welcoming and friendly!
Glenn started attending AUMC five years ago after meeting Jason at his former church. He’s been volunteering at AUMC with the ACCA furniture delivery, as an usher and greeter and participating with adult discussion groups. Outside of church, he’s now semi-retired and works as a personal trainer after spending 34 years at the Library of Congress. He hopes to meet more of his fellow congregants now that he’s officially joined Annandale UMC!
Let’s all join together in making our new members feel welcomed into our church family!
Current Events at Annandale UMC
“On This Rock” Capital Campaign Update: Our 2025-2026 Capital Campaign is off to a quick start, with our phase one goal achieved! The congregation has responded to our need for an immediate commitment of $17,020, augmenting $32,991 given before our launch to unlock matching gifts. We now have $100,000 to fulfill our need for a new fire panel. Phase 2 now requires $75,000 more this summer to replace our aging boiler before winter sets in. The United Methodist logo has a flame but we don’t want to be reduced to open-flames to heat the sanctuary! If you’d like to participate, contact Brad Todd (brad@onmessageinc.com) or Scott Fleming (cool_flemings@hotmail.com), or make a contribution at annandalechurch.com/giving or by check with the phrase “Capital Campaign” in the memo field.

VBS campers will experience rotations in Bible stories, music, recreation, snacks and crafts, learning about the culture of Joseph’s time. The cost per child is $25.

Get Involved
Interested in serving as a compensated host for outside groups using our space? The church is often approached by individuals or groups not associated with Annandale UMC or our various Covenant Partners who hope to use spaces at our church or Mission Center for one-time events. While these groups or individuals make significant donations for use of the space, we also require that they pay church members who serve as hosts ($30/hour) as well as cleaning crews who come in after their events. Hosts are present to make sure that spaces are utilized consistent with policies designed to maintain our facilities and ensure they are well cared for. If you are interested in being on a list of congregants to serve as hosts subject to availability, please e-mail Scott Fleming at cool_flemings@hotmail.com . Scott can provide further information about hosts’ responsibilities and possibly set up a training session.
Become a member of Annandale UMC! There’s a specific process for membership at United Methodist Church involving talking with our pastors and filling out a form. Our Prayer Shawl Ministry members knit or crochet shawls by hand, which are then prayed over, blessed, and given to our members who are sick, grieving, homebound, or who need a special blessing. If you are interested in being of part of this ministry or if you know of someone who would like a prayer shawl, please contact Rita Witkowski, rita6@cox.net , or Elaine Woods, ewoods@annandale-umc.org .
